No real structure in place for advancement, FFA have no respect for referees and the job that they do at all levels.
Not enough emphasis is put advancement and education of referees.

Being a photographer and knowing many referees, I often wonder why you guys do it. There is not enough in place to ensure that Referees get respect let alone ensure that they are safe on and off the ground. Something needs to be done because from what I see, it's getting worse for officials.

Referees give up because players and spectators alike believe that we are free game when it comes to abuse....
News for you people....we are not...without referees / umpires and other officials, NO sport exists....
We give up our time because we love the sport, not to get abused..... The JR referees wont hang around to make it to the SR ranks if we dont do something to protect them....
Just my 2 cents worth....

At a local level there is no support for referee advancement. There is no structured education in place, very few inspections with constructive feedback, poorly run meetings every month at a local level.
